Read about the incredible individual women who use their knitting skills to earn an income to support their families and educate their children.
The talented community of knitters are proud to have their name and photo attached to their work. Each product tag has the knitter’s name written on it so you can follow this link or search our blog to find her story and know the impact of your purchase.
Zimbabwe currently has a 95% unemployment rate and remains one of the poorest countries in Africa. Many in the Knit for Life community have HIV, some of the knitters have a disability, making it harder for them to find employment and many of the knitters have taken on caring for their elderly parents, their nieces and nephews and other children in the community.
These women are strong and resilient and the Knit for Life team in Australia feel honoured to be working with them and to be sharing their craft and stories with you.
All of the images and knitter’s stories are forwarded to us by Stella, the Knit for Life manager in Zimbabwe.
